Heirloom 3 – A Lock of Mother’s Hair

This is a small (silver dollar-sized) fabric pouch that contains this lock of hair which was inside this folded up piece of paper. Assuming that this is Lula who wrote, “Mama’s Hair”, this would have been a lock of her mother’s hair, presumably cut after her passing.

Georgeann Laurina “Laura” (Dennis) Prater was born on November 30, 1849, in Ezel, Kentucky. She married William Jefferson Prater on February 21, 1871, in Morgan, Kentucky. They had four children in 18 years. She died on November 28, 1891, in her hometown at the age of 41, and was buried there.

I have already uploaded the obituary here.
